Services will be replacing the majority of the Borough’s street lights,
which will all meet the latest British and European Standards.
Improve road safety,
in particular by reducing the incidence and severity
of night time accidents; Reduce the incidence
of night time crime; Increase leisure
and commercial activity after dark; Help to develop
safer routes to school; and Create a quality
environment for local people, business and tourism in general.
Reporting
a Problem
If you wish to report a street light, illuminated road sign or illuminated
bollard as not working properly, please provide us with as much information
as possible.
For example, in addition to providing the name of the road, it will
help the operator if you can provide a description of where the equipment
is i.e. “outside house number 20”, and the lamp post number
(which will look similar to the one in the photo).
What you can do
to helpSave energy and avoid accidents – street lights should not be on
during daylight hours. If you would like to play your part in conserving energy,
then please report lights that are on during the day.
Emergency Reporting – exposed wires or a collapsed street lighting
column can be very dangerous. Please report these to the number below so our
staff can deal with the request immediately.
You can call us on 01642 774774 or email rcls@dwlimited.co.uk.
Planning the Installation
Work
Redcar & Cleveland Lighting Services, David Webster Limited and your
Council want to ensure that any inconvenience is kept to a minimum. Work
will be carried out during normal working hours (between 07.30 and 17.00
hours) Monday to Friday. A letter detailing construction dates, together
with contact details for any queries you may have will be published in the
free local paper.
This work has been planned and co-ordinated with public utilities and other
bodies to ensure the programme is carried out as efficiently as possible.
The local electricity company will carry out connections to the new columns.
Old columns will be disconnected and removed for recycling soon afterwards.
A yellow painted circle on the ground with the letters L/C will mark the
locations of the new columns.
If you have any queries specific to these works, please contact Mr Mark Thompson
on 01642 257840.
