PFI SCHEMES - LAMBETH STREET LIGHTING IMPROVEMENTS
Lambeth Council will be upgrading the street lighting in your area as part of a Private Finance Initiative entered into with Lambeth Lighting Services. Over the next 5 years David Webster Limited (DW), as a service provider of Lambeth Lighting Services will be replacing the majority of the Borough’s street lights, which will all meet the latest British and European Standards.
Brighter and safer streets; Reduction in crime and fear of crime; Reduction in road traffic accidents; Increased use of night time public transport; Increased use of local facilities at night; and Enhancement of the environment generally.
Reporting a Problem
If you wish to report a street light, illuminated road sign or illuminated bollard
as not working properly, having been knocked down or with something
hanging loose from it, please provide us with as much information as
possible.
For example, in addition to providing the name of the road, it will help the operator if you can provide a description of where the equipment is i.e. “outside house number 20”, and the lamp post number (which will look similar to the one in the photo shown).
You can call us on 020 7978 3423 or email T&Hcallcentre@Lambeth.gov.uk.
What you can do to helpSave energy and avoid accidents – street lights should not be on during daylight hours. If you would like to play your part in conserving energy, then please report lights that are on during the day.
Emergency Reporting – exposed wires or a collapsed street lighting
column can be very dangerous. Please report these to the number below so our
staff can deal with the request immediately.

Planning the Installation Work
Lambeth Lighting Services, David Webster Limited and your Council want to ensure
that any inconvenience is kept to a minimum. Work will be carried out during
normal working hours (between 08.00 and 18.00 hours) Monday to Friday, although
occasionally it may be necessary to work at the weekends, however we do try
to keep this to a minimum. Residents will be notified by letter, together
with contact details for any queries you may have, a minimum of five weeks
prior to commencement of works.
This work has been planned and co-ordinated with public utilities and other bodies to ensure the programme is carried out as efficiently as possible. The local electricity company will carry out connections to the new columns. Old columns will be disconnected and removed for recycling soon afterwards. A yellow painted circle on the ground with the letters L/C will mark the locations of the new columns.
We want to keep you informed of when works will be taking place in your area,
and the proposed installation plan showing works planned by street
and month can be viewed by clicking here.
If you have any queries specific to these works, please contact David Greenwood
on 020 7978 3423.
Our Service Standards
If you report a faulty street light, we will repair it within five working days.
If a light is not working because the electricity supply has failed, the repair is the responsibility of the electricity supplier EDF Energy. EDF Energy will generally reinstate a supply within ten working days.
Current Situation in your Borough
The Lambeth PFI Core Investment Programme (CIP) achieved its 5th milestone 4 weeks
ahead of target.
The Lambeth Project
is now 65% complete. DW has hit another
milestone which was the 6000th new column in light. At least 650 streets
and 5 parks have been re-lit and the new columns installed. Approximately 9,000
new column positions have been designed. 98% of the lighting
columns in the Borough are in light.
