We are delighted to announce that David Webster Limited (DW) has achieved successful registration to the European Standard EN ISO 14001:2004 for its Environmental Management System. The registration follows a detailed 2 day audit of the management system by the British Standards Institute.
Achieved in March 2009, the scope of registration is for the management of the installation and maintenance of road lighting equipment, underground power and telecommunication cables, illuminated and non-illuminated signs and other associated street furniture.
This is a fantastic achievement which demonstrates the company’s robust Environmental Management System and systematic approach to reducing its impacts on the environment.
Mick Twist, DW QUENSH Manager said: "To achieve ISO 14001 registration we have had to identify our environmental impacts and our compliance with legislation, this has helped us develop a strategy for setting and achieving positive environmental objectives which can also have significant cost benefit for the business".
This achievement forms an important part of a wider set of actions, known as Actitudes, which are designed to improve environmental performance and awareness throughout the Bouygues Construction group. All group companies are engaged in a structured set of activities aimed at minimising adverse environmental impact and raising employee awareness of the importance of protecting the environment. Actitudes also extends to DW's supply partners and its subcontractors, whose support is considered essential for meeting environmental objectives.
