DW Announced Preferred Bidder for Redcar & Cleveland PFI Project

Following a long wait DW have been informed that we have been selected as Preferred Bidder for the Redcar & Cleveland PFI Street Lighting Contract.

This Contract is valued at approximately £40m (excluding energy) and is a major win for DW, supporting the Company’s strategic plan for growth.

It is estimated that approximately 85% of the Councils current street lighting column inventory has reached the end of its useful life and does not meet the appropriate electrical and structural condition standards. Therefore, during the Core Investment Period of 3 years, 18,000 of the existing 22,000 lighting points will be replaced.

The citizens of the Borough of Redcar & Cleveland themselves place a high priority upon good standards of public lighting and signage. Recent community surveys suggest that more than 1 in 4 were not satisfied with the current service levels.

We look forward to working in partnership with Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council on this prestigious project, to deliver a first class lighting service to the people of Redcar & Cleveland and to create safer and better lit streets. It is a great opportunity for DW and the Middlesbrough branch to further develop itself into the North of England.
