The M25 Sphere contract is the flagship maintenance contract for DW Projects (DWP).

The M25 contract (full title - Highways Agency Area 5 Maintenance Contract) is for the street lighting maintenance on the 118 mile long M25 London Orbital Motorway, including all the 9 major motorway intersections, and is the biggest contract of its type on the UK highways network.

DWP is responsible for the maintenance of 21,500 lighting units, 34 subways, 3,500 traffic signs and bollards, gantries and 291 feeder pillars.

As a value management concept, the gantries will be fitted out on the ground prior to erecting on prepared bases again to an approved Highway Agency design.

The contract employs a 19 strong staff and has a dedicated fleet of unique specialist vehicles, including heavy crane, motorway tower, heavy vans and smaller support vehicles.

Due to the high traffic volumes and speeds (the highest volumes in Europe), much of the work is undertaken at night within well signed and protected safety zones.
