Specification

The installation of a next generation communications network along 17km of the north and southbound carriageway between Junctions 6a–10 of the M1 motorway. This includes installation of fibre optic networks, gantry fit-out works, new generation above ground joints, and the introduction of Marechal connections for all gantry cabling works.

The contract includes also variable message sign (VMS) bases and advanced motorway indicators (AMI). The bases for the new type 354 emergency roadside telephones will also be installed. We have also been requested to design special cabinets which can house all the gantries electronic equipment at ground level.

As a value management concept, the gantries will be fitted out on the ground prior to erecting on prepared bases again to an approved Highways Agency design.

Commissioning works for the additional signal transponder, telephone and Midas responder works are now required.

All the works for this project will be managed on location from the large site compound which has been specifically set up to run a contract of this size to completion.
