The prime scope of the project was to design and build the complete temporary CCTV system, including a control room console consisting of 3 tiers and 13 bays, ergonomically designed for operator comfort.
The control room itself is air conditioned with an independent power supply and generator back-up.
The annex to the main room houses the multiplexers and DVD storage, the recorded footage is stored for 28 days.
The DW solution
DW have erected 126 pole mounted cameras, 92 with pan tilt and zoom capability and 34 static cameras covering the entire 17km scheme including motorway junctions and the M10 motorway. The cameras are fitted on either 10 metre or 15 metre rigid or fold down columns, and are heated to prevent misting. All equipment is manufactured to the Highways Agency specification. Other external equipment, including fibre optic cable installation and jointing was also undertaken by DW Projects.
Benefits to client
Recordings are made on DVD’s rather than the standard VCR to enhance recording, quality and increase recording time before the DVD’s have to be changed. DVD’s also use less storage space than videos. Ergonomic design of control room increases the comfort level of the control room operators. Complete CCTV coverage – 100% of road networks and approach roads.
