"Changing our attitudes through the way we act":
that phrase neatly summarises the Bouygues Construction sustainable policy. In other words, we need to change the way we do our business and radically alter our behaviour so that we can reconcile the quest for profitability with the need for action on the main labour, social and environmental challenges of the day.

Actitudes – changing our attitudes through the way we act

Some may see sustainable development purely as a constraint, but the Bouygues group are firmly convinced that it can actually be a major source of progress. Sustainable development is a driving force behind innovation and creativity. It also makes a company more attractive to its workforce, who are increasingly sensitive to the need for corporate social responsibility.

This corporate ethos is complimented by DW’s own commitment to reducing its environmental impacts through:

DW measures its environmental performance and sets realistic objectives in accordance with ISO 14001, the company continuously strives to reduce its impacts on the environment.

DW is committed to providing the most environmentally sustainable service to its clients. The Company is actively involved in Forum for the Future and monitor the carbon footprints and light pollution for the contract areas of our business. With our supply partners we are developing alternative power source lamp columns that will allow us to generate electricity back into the electricity supply network and remote monitoring and control systems that will allow for the reduction in lighting output during night-times.

Recycling

DW has taken a leading role in backing research to seek lighting efficiency design and manufacturer improvements. This is based on a company ethos that is the 3R’s – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle - to deliver sustainable solutions to achieve measurable environmental impact reduction in all its various forms.

DW manages the waste treatment of end of life gas discharge lamps and fluorescent tubes in accordance with industry best practice. All such lamps are crushed at a licensed waste treatment facility enabling the components and materials to be reclaimed for re-use. This procedure is compliant with the WEEE Regulations.
