Biofuel Facility, Straw and Cellulosic Biomass Feedstocks
Bouygues Energies & Services Contracting was appointed as the prime contractor, with responsibilities for the turnkey design and build of the next generation biofuels and biotechnology industrial demonstrator facility utilising straw and cellulosic biomass feedstocks.
Bouygues Energies & Services’s initial involvement was related to the conceptual design and selection of a preferred site location, and process design, providing CPI with a highly-flexible facility and engineering systems.
The facility will be constructed to accommodate a diverse range of biomass feedstocks, and comprises state of the art feedstock handling and preparation, 10,000 litre scale fermentation train and downstream processing facilities incorporating drying, homogenisation and distillation technologies. The facility will be supported with an advanced DCS-based control system for semi-automatic/fully automatic operation.
